National Broadcasting Society is an organization created for students who are interested in pursuing a career in the electronic media field. As one of 300 student organizations at Texas State, NBS offers many benefits to students who join.
Benefits include exposure to electronic media industries, assistance in career preparation, providing opportunities for development and encouraging participation in community service projects. Members are also treated to tours of studios and trips to regional and national conventions, held at various locations across the country.

To become a national member of NBS, you must download and fill out the registration form and bring it, along with a check, to Dr. Niekamp’s office, room 330-A in Old Main. This will get you National Membership, but you will also need to become a Texas State member, which will cost $10.
Becoming a member of NBS could be one of the best choices you make during your college career. Alumni have gone on to work for companies and studios in markets such as Houston, Dallas, and even internationally in Japan.
“You get more exposure to the business beyond the classroom through guest speakers and introductions to professional broadcasters,” said faculty advisor Dr. Ray Niekamp.
So jump start your future career and join National Broadcasting Society today.
