The future of electronic media...since 1943

We are part of the South Central region.  It consists of Colorado, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Texas, Arkansas and Louisiana.

The National Broadcasting Society is an organization created for students and professionals pursuing a career within the electronic media field.

PURPOSE:

 To help collegiate electronic media students make the transition to the professional world by:

    * Promoting excellence.
    * Providing opportunities for ethical and responsible leadership.
    * Providing exposure to the "electronic media" industries.
    * Assisting in career preparation.
    * Providing opportunities for and encouraging the development of members through   advanced media education programs.
    * Providing opportunities for and encouraging the participation of members in community service projects and activities.


HISTORY:
How did the name Alpha Epsilon Rho originate?  When students met in1943 at Ohio State University’s Institute for Education by Radio and officially founded the fraternity (society), they decided to change the name from the Stephens College chapter, Beta Epsilon Phi to Alpha Epsilon Rho as an acknowledgment to an organization of professional radio educators many of whom helped establish those early chapters at their academic institutions. 


Although NBS – AERho has been primarily a student – oriented professional organization, usually the first professional/ industry organization to which students belong, an effort was started by National Executive Secretary Dr. Richard Uray to involve more faculty members in addition to campus chapter faculty advisors.  


 In 2011 the structure of NBS-AERho changed at the national convention. NBS-AERho now is run by a National Board of Governors with Jim Wilson still the organization’s Executive Director.

DUES:

This year, NBS is giving new members a break on dues! The cost will be only $25 for the year

Sorry, but you cannot join NBS at only the local chapter level.  You must be a national member to take part in NBS events.
